The dinosaurs will be back in Jurassic World 2 and the latest addition to the Jurassic World merchandise sparked rumors about a new kind of hybrid T-Rex for the next film. Director Juan Antonio Bayona also recently bowed out of World War Z 2 which sparked speculations that he could be the helmsman of the upcoming sequel.
As reported by Australian Network News, Hasbro's Dino hybrid line added a new toy to their collection which is a hybrid T-Rex. The new green T-Rex resembles the dinosaur in "Jurassic Park III" (2001) but it has spikes on its back that is similar to a Stegosaurus.
Although official plot details are still unknown, it is speculated that the next film could feature hybrids of dinosaurs especially as the previous film featured Dr. Wu escaping the island with embryos of dinosaur species which opened a lot of possibilities for the plot's development in the sequel.
Furthermore, the cast who are expected to return for Jurssaic World 2 are Bryce Dallas Howard who will reprise her role as Claire and Chris Pratt as Owen. No director has been announced for the sequel, although, Indiewire reported that director Juan Antonio Bayona recently bowed out of World War Z 2, and thus could be a possible option as the director of the flick.
According to Christian Post, plot rumors have also previously surfaced suggesting a shift in the lead role with Howard's Claire rumored to be the main protagonist as Pratt's Owen turn to the dark side. Fans also speculate that the sequel could pick up during the events where Dr. Wu escaped with the dinosaur embryos to Costa Rica which could lead to the introduction of more new hybrid dinosaurs.
However, it is worth noting that official plot and production details for Jurassic World 2 have not been disclosed and thus, these speculations must be treated with a grain of salt. Jurassic World directed by Colin Trevorrow earned $1.6 billion worldwide.
