HTC has officially confirmed that it is targeting to release the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to One M8 devices on January 25. Mo Versi took Twitter to reveal all the latest updates for its devices.
HTC One M8 owners under network T-Mobile shall rejoice, as Mo Versi, HTC senior vice president for product management, revealed via Twitter yesterday that the device manufacturer is indeed rolling out the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to the device on the 25th of January. However, One M8 owners under the magenta carrier should take note that 25 is only the target.
What exactly went down on Twitter yesterday was a querying fan asked Versi regarding the update of T-Mobile One M8 following it revealed that One M9 is up for Marshmallow on Canadian carriers. The fan asked: "@moversi Any update on the T-Mobile M8?"
He responded: "@cameron29016996 We're in the lab. should be soon - our target is 1/25."
Android 6.0 will bring in improvements on battery management, controls, contextual assistance and more.
For batter management, Google pulls in Doze, a power saving feature. When phone is idle, Doze automatically puts the device into sleep to expand battery life. Aside from Doze, app standby limits the impact of seldom used apps from draining battery life.
For controls that have been promised to be greater, users do not need to give access all the time. With Marshmallow, users ware given the control to determine what users want to share and when to share them. Permissions can also be turned off anytime.
Aside from an improved control on permissions, Google also brings in a simplified security with fingerprint without having to compromise it. Forget about logging in with passwords all the time since the access if found right at the users' fingertip. Use the fingerprint sensor to unlock phone, check out products at Play Store and other apps using Android Pay.
For contextual assistance, Marshmallow revamps suggestions on Google Now with a more intuitive innovation. With Now on Tap, the device will recommend apps, information, or anything that users might need at the moment.
