Louisiana Sheriff’s Deputy Killed, Former Inmate Arrested

By

Jermaine Johnson, a former inmate who has been responsible for the killing of Webster Parish Sheriff Gary Sexton was arrested on Tuesday. Currently, he has a bond set to an amount of $1 million for the said killing.

Jermaine Johnson, 36, has been charged with a second-degree murder of Sheriff Sulyn Prince. The sheriff's body was found in a shallow grave at a nearby area in North Louisiana where she resides, Fox News reported. In addition, evidence found in Sulyn Prince's home had led to the former inmate's arrest.

The trial was supposed to start to further investigate and present the evidences gathered for Sheriff Sulyn Prince's death. But Jermaine Johnson's court-appointed lawyer did not communicate nor answer phone calls from the media to explain well what truly had happened on the said ongoing case, ABS News Go cited. Evidences inside the sheriff's home in north Louisiana has hardened and heaved the allegations against Jermaine Johnson and his involvement in the said second-degree murder charge.

Jermaine Johnson has been convicted for rape beforehand and now facing mandatory life sentence in Louisiana. Aside from the murder charges he is currently facing, he had faced various cases like aggravated rape which he was imprisoned for five years in Webster Parish Jail. This is also the same place where sheriff Sulyn Prince used to work; though, it is still unclear whether the two had prior interactions and even the slightest form of communication that can be the root of the motive for the killing, Daily Mail UK shared.

Officers were officially dispatched on the morning of the day police discovered Sulyn Prince's dead body. A welfare check has been made since the sheriff's family asked for the police assistance when they did not able to contact her. Evidence such as blood splatter has been found in Sulyn Prince's home hence the arrest.
