The hit Netflix series that tells the story of Pablo Escobar hit high notes when it premiered on August 2015. While the first season was a success, several reports state that the second season could have a delay due to shake-ups behind the scenes.
Narcos, the show that recalls the dangerously exciting life of famous Colombian drug lord, Pablo Escobar, has become one of 2015's best releases. Because of high ratings, the show was quickly renewed for a second season just after a week of its premiere. However, conflicts off camera might result to a delayed production for the second season.
As much as the on-screen chemistry is tight between the actors, it seems that backstage drama might be worse than expected.
According to a report by Deadline, the new show runner, Adam Fierro, has quit production. This would ultimately affect how the production for the next season goes. Fierro took over the production when Chris Bancato left the show in April due to a change in creative direction that was meant for the show for its second season.
Netflix and Gaumont International Television had thought of swinging the perspective for the next season, and since Fierro had worked for successful shows such as The Walking Dead and The Shield, he seemed like the best fit for the job at that time.
Netflix had stated that Fierro did the job for the second season, and that his contract was fulfilled by what he had brought to the table.
Jose Padilha, the show's current director and executive producer, intended to leave the show after the second season, but is now involved in production again after Fierro's exit. Aside from Padilha, Eric Newman will take over the second season, as well as the show's original creators, Doug Miro and Carlo Bernard.
Because of the large viewership and A-rated reviews, Narcos gained two Golden Globes nominations for best drama series and best actor for Wagner Moura, as posted by Vine Report.
