MythBusters Season 14 Finale Explosion Special Spoilers: Hovercrafts and Wet Cement

By

The new trailer of the hit Discovery Channel series, MythBusters, suggests an explosive new season, quite literally.

The long-running series that debunks and proves all sorts of myths through scientific methods is back for its 14th season, and according to the show's new trailer, one episode from the final season will be all about explosions and detonations.

"We're devoting an entire episode to an explosion special," said co-host Adam Savage, in the promo trailer. Indeed, the trailer shows a lot of explosive experiments: from filling up an entire delivery truck with wet cement and explosions to a hovercraft driven over a minefield. Surely, the season finale, which set to premiere on March 8, will deliver a power packed surprise for its fans.

According to Mercury News, filming for season 14 of MythBusters completed in November last year, and it proved to be exhausting for both Savage and Jamie Hyneman. The pair went on to travel 32 cities for a "MythBusters" tour, which will most likely be shown in the entire duration of the series.

Since its successful premiere in 2003, MythBusters has been nominated seven times for the Emmys, and quickly propelled itself to become Discovery Channel's most popular television show.

While the fans saw the pair as the perfect scientific duo, Savage revealed a difference between him and Hyneman that became the reason behind several quarrels.

"Jamie was never interested in the storytelling. This has been one of the primary sources of friction between us - what is experimentation and what is storytelling? I want to be as honest as possible about who I am and I like putting on costumes and making the process entertaining," said Savage in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, as published by Inverse.

While the show has successfully premiered 248 episodes and over 2,900 experiments, both Hyneman and Savage felt that the ideas for the show would eventually run out and be exhausted.

Later on, both Savage and Hyneman, as well as executives from Discovery, decided that it was time to pull the plug.
