Ashley A. Riggitano, 22, an aspiring fashionista jumped off the George Washington Bridge to her death on Wednesday night, leaving behind a Louis Vuitton bag containing a "suicide diary" that included a list of five girls she did not want to attend her funeral, reported the New York Post.
Riggitano, reportedly, and deliberately, placed her handbag on a walkway at around 4:40 p.m. before leaping from a point midway in the Jersey-bound lanes of the upper level, authorities said. Several witnesses saw her plunge into the Hudson River. Her body was pulled out of the harbor shortly after she jumped.
In her designer bag were pages of handwritten notes that describe the young woman's torment.
"All my other 'friends' are in it for gossip," she wrote.
She was working as an intern for the New York-based jewelry and fashion designer Alex Woo. Her family, based in Paramus, New Jersey, would not comment on her death.
Riggitano reportedly had a history of problems, even tried to commit suicide before. She had a history also of taking medication, including Adderall and Klonopin, which were found in her bag.
According to several reports, Riggitano had gotten into a Facebook fight with another girl Alison Tinari, who allegedly wrote her a post that's being considered as a contributing factor in the suicide. "go try to kill yourself on Xanax again, you unstable loser. Go f-k yourself and never speak to me again," one girl wrote to her.
Riggitano started her own business known as the Missfits, where she designed and sold her own bracelets. According to the notes, it was not clear whether their offenses were real or whether Riggitano's mental state drove her over the edge.
One girl wrote on a recently uploaded 'RIP Ashley Riggitano' Facebook page, "What a beautiful young lady, she had her whole life ahead of her but was pushed too far to cut her life short by cruel acts from evil, horrible, senseless, jealous humans. They will get their day for their foolish behavior. So sad to hear of this sudden tragedy. Ashley, you are now at peace with the Angels, my heart goes out to the entire Riggitano Family, may your hearts heal and find peace from the loss of your daughter. R.I.P. Ashley.
Riggitano killed herself on her 22nd birthday.
