Nickelback is filing a lawsuit against insurance giant Lloyd's of London. The Canadian rockers are suing the company due to non-payment over cancelled tour.
Nickelback claims that Lloyd's of London is trying to avoid paying millions of dollars for the cancelation of the group's tour due to Chad Kroeger's medical condition. Back in December, the insurance company filed a lawsuit against Chad Kroeger because he did not include in his documents that he had a pre-existing throat condition. The insurance company said that the vocalist failed to disclose such information before taking out the policy. Lloyd's then cancelled Kroeger's insurance.
According to TMZ, Howard Weitzman, Nickelback's lawyer released a statement saying it is absurd to state that the medical condition was pre-existing because Chad Kroeger was able to do concerts in nearly 40 tours before the cyst issue emerges. Toronto Sun reported that Nickelback claims that Lloyd's London created stories so that they won't have to pay millions of dollars after Kroeger's medical condition forced the whole band to cancel dates on its No Fix Address Tour in 2015.
Nickelback's documents in court stated that Lloyd's of London acted in 'bad faith' making way for punitive damages. Chad Kroeger then released an official statement through Nickelback's website saying that he is sorry for the inconvenience. He also apologized for interrupting the summer party and that he is definitely not thrilled with the prospect of being silent for many weeks to come when he could be out there playing rock for Nickelback fans.
Nickelback's new album is entitled, No Fixed Address and sold around 80,000 copies in the US in its first week of release. In November 2014, the album landed at number 4 on The Billboard 200. Meanwhile, Nickelback also cancelled more than 60 concerts due to the front man's medical condition. The band also cancelled its tour in North American trek.
