After the success of the Xperia Z5 handsets, Sony is speculated to release a new line of flagship phones dubbed as the Sony Xperia Z6. The new handsets will be available in different variants and could be released in the second quarter of the year.
Speculations have surfaced about the alleged specifications of the anticipated Sony Xperia 6 handset and previous claims suggested that its launching would not only reveal one device but rather in 5 different variants ranging from one with 4-inch display to another with 6.4-inch screen.
According to a report by GSM Arena, Sony was rumored to release the Xperia Z6's smaller versions called the z6 Mini and Xperia Compact with 4-inch and 4.6-inch display, respectively. Its basic Z6 variant is expected to have 5.2-inch screen while its larger variants called Xperia Z6 Plus and Xperia Z6 Ultra are said to have 5.8-inch and 6.4-inch display. It was previously reported that two of the devices will house the 652 SoC processorwhile the other two variants will get the latest Snapdragon 820.
However, a new leak from the Chinese website, Mobile-Dad, excluded the Z6 Mini variant and instead announced the Xperia Z6 Lite. According to International Business Times, the handset is rumored to have 5.0-inch display which is between the sizes if the Z6 Compact and the basic version. It is also rumored to feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 SoC.
Furthermore, the devices is claimed to feature a new design with its 2.5D curved display with 1080p resolution. As reported by Gadgets World, they also rumored to have 2GB/3GB of RAM, and will be cased with metal body glass.
The Sony Xperia Z6 handsets are currently speculated to be unveiled during the Mobile World Congress which might take place sometime in late February. Prices for the devices are currently unknown although the Xperia Z6 Lite is rumored to be sold at $385 and could hit the shelves in May.
