Mark Salling, the actor who played Noah "Puck" Puckerman in the Fox cult favorite musical-comedy series "Glee", was arrested Tuesday morning on child pornography charges.

LAPD's Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force obtained a search warrant for his Sunland California home where reportedly thousands of indecent images of child exploitation were found. According to the Hollywood Life, possession of more than 600 images can be punishable with up to five years in prison.

Salling was released after posting a $20,000 bail and left the Los Angeles Downtown jail at just after 2:30 pm of the same day reports ET Online. His court date was set for January 22. No other information is available at the moment and the actor's representative has not commented on the issue.

In 2013, Salling made headlines when his ex-girlfriend Roxanne Gorzela sued him for sexual battery, assault, intentional infliction of emotional distress and negligence according to People.

She also accused him of forcing her to have unprotected sex with him in March 2011. Salling denied the allegations and he filed a cross-complaint. However, in March of this year, he settled the suit and agreed to pay Gorzela $2.7 million.

The 33 year old actor was a regular in Glee for the show's first four seasons and had a recurring guest role until its finale. His character Puck was the mohawked jock who was known for tossing students into a dumpster. He was best friends with the late Cory Monteith's character Finn Hudson. Puck however cheated and eventually had a baby with Finn's girlfriend. Over six seasons, he evolved and was last known to have enlisted in the Air Force.
