Drake Bell Released on Bail After DUI Arrest

By

Former Nickelodeon child star Drake Bell was arrested on Sunday about 2:20 a.m. on suspicion that he was driving under the influence. The 29 year old musician was pulled over by Glendale police officers when his car was seen swerving and speeding after abruptly stopping at a red light.

LA Times reports that Glendale police spokeswoman Tahnee Lightfoot also revealed that during the traffic stop, the police officer noticed that Bell was smelling of alcohol after which he allegedly failed a field sobriety test. He was stopped at West Doran Street and San Fernando Roads.

Bell was arrested and released on a $20,000 bail after being held for 10 hours reports Daily Mail. Neither Bell nor his representative has made a comment about the incident.

Drake Bell starred on Nickelodeon's "Drake & Josh" from 2004 to 2007. The show followed the lives of two teens who became stepbrothers. His most recent work is on the Disney XD animated series "Ultimate Spider-Man" as the voice of Spider Man. He is also set for a concert tour in Mexico inearly 2016.

In June this year, his tweet about Caitlyn Jenner made headlines when he posted that he will still call Jenner by her pre-transition name of Bruce Jenner. According to NBC News, Bell later deleted his tweet and apologized with this Twitter post, "I sincerely apologize for my thoughtless insensitive remarks. I in no way meant to hurt or demean those going through a similar journey."

Ironically, Bell slammed Justin Bieber in the social media for the most part of 2014 after Bieber's DUI arrest and even joined the bandwagon on calls to have him deported. Bell explained that Bieber was failing in being a role model to his fans. After his own arrest, Bell's history with Bieber and his fans has certainly come back to haunt him.
