New York City prepares for New Year 2016 party

By

The anticipation for the incoming New Year builds up as the City of New York makes its annual preparation for an event that draws hundreds of thousands of people from all over the world.

News Day reports that preparations are made in Times Square for its Waterford crystal ball as it will make a glittering entrance with the numerals 1 and 6 to signal the arrival of the New Year.

Reports have stated that 288 sparkling Waterford crystal triangles are being installed and added to the 2,100 other crystals to create the "Gift of Wonder" design. It is now perched atop One Times Square at 42nd Street and Broadway.

Moreover, PR Newswire has reported that Toshiba Inc will be a huge partner to the year-ending celebration. The company will electrify the global countdown with its enhanced audio and pyrotechnic effects that will be seen on the humongous Toshiba Vision Screen mounted right below Times Square New Year's Eve ball.

The screen will feature the line-up of entertainment prepared for the live attendants and a billion more eyes from all over the world this year. Musical performers to attend are Carrie Underwood, Demi Lvoato, Wiz Khalifa, Luke Bryan, and Charlie Puth.

People are expected to flood the area and everyone's not guaranteed to even witness the ball drop because of the large crowd. Prices for food will set any tourist back a few $100 more as well. The NY Post reports that Olive Garden, a restaurant located at Times Square, will charge $400 per person on New Year's Eve and it doesn't even offer the perfect view for the ball drop. Bubba Gump Shrimp on Broadway will charge $799 per person for their signature dishes and a better ball drop view. The counter, which is a hamburger chain, will charge $449 per person for a meal that does not include a burger.

The New Year party at Times Square will be this coming Thursday, December 31, 2015.
