After getting an Android Marshmallow update, Motorola released the kernel sources of its Moto X Pure Edition.
According to Tech Gadget Central, the X Pure Edition is now the first non-Nexus smartphone that has its kernel sources out. Users can now develop their own smartphone software for their Motorola devices using the Android 6.0 Marshmallow kernel sources. Based on the kernel sources, users can now create their own custom ROMs. They can also opt to make small tweaks to personalize their software.
As long as the user has the basic knowledge and imagination, they can do the software modifications they desire. To get the kernel sources for the Android 6.0 Marshmallow software, users can access the Github site and download the tar.gz files or the ZIP.
First Post reported that Motorola Moto X Pure is the MotoX second generation released in India back in 2014. By pushing the kernel sources, users all over the world can tweak and customize their Android software to get the most out of the Moto X.
Third-party ROM developers can now incorporate it in their custom ROM programs. Moto X fans can later on utilize the software on their Moto X (2014) smartphones, which used to lack kernel sources.
Echo Examiner wrote that the kernel sources will make developers' lives easier. This move may not yet affect consumers immediately, but developers can adjust and create their own Operating System with access to these codes.
The end-user will benefit from this update soon as developers would release their own work from being able to access these kernel sources. Developers don't have to worry about "bloatware" sine Moto X Pure is not riddled with this problem. It is expected that there will be more optimized and modified alternative ROMs created out of this development. This definitely makes Moto X Pure become a more functional mobile device.
