50 Cent files $2M lawsuit against Rick Ross

By

Rapper 50 Cent recently filed a case against Ricky Ross for allegedly using the track In Da Club's instrumentals on Ross' rap featured in his new album. Ross subsequently commented on the situation on his Twitter account.

As reported by Business Insider, a $2 million lawsuit was filed against Rick Ross for allegedly using In Da Club in with Rick Ross' own lyrics in his latest #RenzelRemixes mixtape in November which was released to promote Ross' "Black Market" album.

50 Cent's representative stated that such move by Rick Ross violated the former's rights as an artist. "50 Cent's most valuable asset is the name and reputation he has painstakingly built through his Grammy-winning music, acting and business endeavors", 50 Cent's lawyers stated.

"He chooses his projects carefully for the very purpose of protecting that name and reputation. Our complaint alleges that Rick Ross has taken these without permission to advertise his own album and violated 50 Cent's rights in the process and we believe he should be held liable", they added.

Meanwhile, Ross took to Twitter his alleged comments on the case. According to a report by Design and Trend, Ross wrote a series of tweets which could be aimed at 50 Cent's lawsuit. "Perfect time to #Bossup", Ross tweeted. "Enjoy every minute of it ... They file lawsuits to settle for conversation ... I pray you live rich forever."

However, such allegations on Rick Ross could be due to the personal rift between the two which previously resulted to 50 Cent's payment of $7 million to Ross for leaking a sex tape with the mother of Ross' child in it. Moreover, according to MTV, a complaint from 50 Cent also seemed atypical since he also aided his career by rapping to MC's beats.

The feud between Rick Ross and 50 Cent do not seem to be ending anytime soon and could even take longer with the recent lawsuit. Ross' lawyers have yet to release a statement to express the rapper's side.
