Academy Award winning actor Russell Crowe and wife Danielle Spencer have reportedly split after nine years of marriage. According to the Sydney Morning Herald, the couple is separating on amicable terms.

The LA Times reports that a prenuptial agreement might cost the 48-year-old actor to pay over $25 million to Spencer. Crowe, according to the report, earned over $150 million since the couple married, meaning the divorce might cost him much more that the $ 25 million.

Reports suggest that Crowe hectic work schedules were one of the major causes in the split. Other rumors suggest that Spencer's increasing rapport with co-star Damian Whitewood on the Australian version of "Dancing with the Stars," was also one of the many reasons the couple decided to split. Australian entertainment news suggests that the two were living in separate residences much before the official separation.

The couple married in 2002, they have two sons together Charles, 8, and Tennyson, 6.

Crowe is currently finishing "Noah" for which he was shooting in New York recently. Crowe will also been seen in the much awaited "Les Miserables" co-starring Ann Hathaway and Amanda Seyfried.

Crowe won the Academy Award for Best Actor in 2000 for the super hit "Gladiator" and also was nominated for another Academy Award in 2001 for "A Beautiful Mind."

Spencer is also an actress as well as musician.
