A "Today Show" suicide scare hit the news on Thursday when Pak Chong Mar, a man in his 70s, sliced his wrists with a box cutter in front of Rockefeller Plaza where tourists were lined up for the morning's filming. Police and security officers were forced to tackle the man to stop him from slashing his arms.
President Barack Obama said that he was "angry" at IRS officials who targeted conservative groups for scrutiny, announcing that his administration sought and accepted Steven Miller's resignation as the interim commissioner.
Attorney General Eric Holder said on Tuesday that he recused himself from a case involving a Department of Justice decision to subpoena phone records from Associated Press. Holder also said that the Justice Department has ordered a criminal investigation into the IRS' targeting of different conservative groups applying for tax-exempt status.
