Benedict Cumberbatch has a secret girlfriend? Blonde woman joins 'Sherlock' star in ride home after Los Angeles dinner

After months of speculations on British actor Benedict Cumberbatch's girlfriend, the answer may just have revealed itself in Los Angeles.

The "Sherlock" star was reportedly spotted on Sunday evening driving home with a blonde woman after a dinner with his pals in Gjelinas, a restaurant in Venice. The actor was in the area thanks to an appearance at the San Diego Comic-Con 2014 to promote his upcoming animated film "Penguins in Madagascar."

According to KPopStarz, the woman, who was wearing a white lace dress and had her hair in a bun, joined Cumberbatch and his group before the actor headed home. The blonde eventually accompanied him for the ride home.

However, fans are still trying to determine who the woman is as her identity remains a mystery. Reports say that the actor has also been quiet about the issue as he wants to keep the relationship private since the woman is not from the entertainment industry.

Earlier this year, an insider confirmed to Showbiz Spy that the actor indeed has a girlfriend.

"Benedict has a girlfriend. He's keeping it very hush-hush. But it's safe to say he's smitten! He's been seeing the lady in question for the past few months. She isn't in the public eye, and has quite a serious career, so is keen to remain anonymous for as long as possible," the insider said.

Although Cumberbatch has not made any confirmation on the matter, many believe that the blonde lady is indeed the girlfriend in question.

Showbiz Spy said the star had been in a relationship with actress Olivia Poulet for the longest time. The two were together for 12 years before finally splitting up in 2010. He then dated London-based artist Anna James in 2011, but they separated after a year of being together.

Rumors about the actor's romantic life have been very active since he broke up with James. He was even reported to be allegedly dating actress Dakota Johnson after they were seen dining together, Travelers Today said. This, however, was proven as false.
