An Idaho man on the run after being convicted of having pipe bombs was arrested in Indiana.
Daniel Peter Floyd, 58, formerly of Good Grief Idaho, will be sent back to Idaho for sentencing after being captured by U.S. Marshalls, the Bonners Ferry Herald reported.
The pipe bombs were found when police searched Floyd's home in April 2024. The newspaper quoted court documents that stated the bombs were active and intended to cause destruction. Police x-rayed the devices and found they were packedwith metal balls that were meant to spray as shrapnel if the bombs were detonated. The bombs contained black powder, and police found fuses that were separated from the bombs, the Bonners Ferry Herald reported.
Police also tested some of the material, removing some of the black powder and adding a flame to the material. The newspaper reported that police stated a violent reaction occurred. Floyd was convicted of unlawful possession of destructive devices or bombs.
Floyd was supposed to be sentenced on February 21, but did not appear and instead went on the run, KREM-2 reported. A warrant was issued for him for failure to appear the same day and a manhunt began.
Floyd was being held at the Allen County Jail in Fort Wayne, Indiana, awaiting his transport back to Idaho.
