A California OnlyFans model is facing murder charges after a client's fetish session ended in his death.
Michaela Rylaarsdam, 31, was arrested in February—nearly two years after 56-year-old Michael Dale died in a bondage scenario gone wrong, according to court documents obtained by The San Diego Union-Tribune.
On the night of his death in April 2023, Dale allegedly paid Rylaarsdam $11,000 to wrap him in plastic "like a mummy," glue boots to his feet, and seal his eyes shut with adhesive. However, authorities say the session went further than agreed.
According to the affadavit, Dale was found with duct tape over his mouth, a plastic bag over his head, and layers of Saran Wrap and duct tape tightly wrapped around his face and neck. The medical examiner determined the bag had been in place for at least eight minutes, ruling his death a homicide by asphyxiation.
While Rylaarsdam initially claimed she did not put the bag over Dale's head, police say video evidence from her phone suggests otherwise. The footage also included Rylaarsdam engaging in a sexual act with Dale in the background motionless, as content for her OnlyFans page.
Rylaarsdam has pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder. Her attorney maintains there was no intent to kill and argues that Dale willingly participated in the BDSM session. However, prosecutors contend that his consent does not absolve her of responsibility.
She remains in custody without bail and is due back in court in April.
