Indiana State Police arrested a southern Indiana man Tuesday morning after he allegedly made life-threatening statements against billionaire Elon Musk on the social media platform X.
Authorities identified the suspect as 28-year-old David Allen June Cherry. Texas law enforcement alerted Indiana State Police to Cherry's alleged online threats earlier this month, leading detectives to locate and arrest him in Clarksville, Indiana, without incident.
Following his arrest, detectives obtained a search warrant for Cherry's residence in Palmyra, where they discovered and seized an AR-15-style rifle, a handgun, ammunition, and a ballistic vest. In Indiana, it is legal for anyone over 18 who has not been specifically barred from gun ownership to own and carry firearms.
The specific threats made by Cherry have not been disclosed.
Cherry has been charged with Intimidation, a Level 5 felony, and is being held without bond at the Harrison County Jail. The investigation remains ongoing.
