An Idaho teaching assistant accused of filming sex acts with students has denied the allegations, but said that if it did happen, she might have been too drunk to remember, according to a report.
Mary Strong, 53, worked at Tammany High School and faces a felony charge of sexual battery to a minor, according to court records obtained by KREM-2. The student was 16 to 17 years old.
The investigation began after Strong allegedly sent explicit photos and videos to a student on Snapchat. Administrators at the school contacted the Nez Perce County Sheriff's Department, the records claim.
Police talked to the student, who confirmed an "inappropriate relationship," the Lewiston Tribune reported.
The victim told police it began on Snapchat and evolved into a physical relationship on Feb. 4. In the photo taken at the time, Strong was bent over in front of the victim and, following the photo, the student told police that Strong performed oral sex, the newspaper reported.
When shown the photos, Strong admitted she was in them but said she was unaware that they had been taken, didn't know how the victim got the pictures, and that if she sent the images, it might have been the result of alcohol consumption, the Lewiston Tribune reported.
Strong's bond was set at $100,000. The maximum penalty for sexual battery of a minor is 25 years, the newspaper reported.
"A $100,000 bail is very reasonable request by the state considering the nature of the offense and the information contained in the affidavit of probable cause," Nez Perce County Judge Victoria Olds, said according to KREM-2.
