A Florida man blew up the car his wife was sitting in following an argument, burning her beyond recognition as a nearby neighbor heard her screams, according to a report.
Noel Ruiz-Mestre, 50, is charged with second-degree murder and arson charges following the horrifying explosion that was caught on video, Local 10 reported.
The Feb. 1 incident killed Ruiz-Mestre's wife, burning her beyond recognition, Local 10 reported. The woman apparently burned to death as neighbor Miguel Hernandez told the station that he heard her screams as the car burned.
"We heard explosions, some screams," Hernandez told Local 10.
According to the station, the couple had an argument and Ruiz-Mestre got out of the vehicle and detonated a device before his wife, who was in the passenger seat, could get out. Police did not release the wife's identity.
NBC Miami reported that after the explosion, Ruiz-Mestre went home, changed his clothes, and then stabbed himself in the stomach several times with a knife. He then called 911.
In video, the car can be seen bursting into flames. After the blast, cell phone video shows the vehicle fully engulfed in flames as firefighters attempt to extinguish the blaze.
"She was a real nice person. She always says, hello, how are you, happy Christmas, happy Halloween," neighbor Hernandez told NBC Miami. "The guy was a little more quiet, you know. He usually take a chair and sit in front of the house. He do nothing, I don't know, he was really strange."
