The movie adaptation of John Green's best-selling novel featuring "Divergent" stars Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort bagged the "Favorite Flick" award during the 2014 Young Hollywood Awards, Hollywood Life reported. Along with the win, Elgort, who played the iconic role of Augustus Waters, has also contributed to the film's success in the awards show when he was declared the winner of the "Fan Favorite Actor" award. His on-screen romantic tandem with Woodley, who played the Hazel Grace Lancaster character in the movie, also won the "Best On-Screen Couple" award.
"The Fault in Our Stars" was able to beat other crowd-favorite contenders for the "Favorite Flick" award, which include "22 Jump Street," "The Hunger Games," their own film "Divergent," "X-Men: Days of Future Past," and "Maleficent."
Receiving the trophy on behalf of the entire cast and crew of the movie, Elgort delivered an encouraging speech that highlighted the importance of social media, said Chinatopix.com. Declaring that social media is "the way of our future," the 20 year-old actor and heartthrob said that the new media platform must be used to inspire other people to leave a positive mark in society.
"The Fault in Our Stars" earned a whopping $48 million during its first week of release in the US last June, Kpopstarz reported. With the overwhelming support of fans worldwide for the movie, the film has now raked in more than $250 million across the globe.
Meanwhile, the comedy-drama TV series "Orange is the New Black" shared the limelight with "TFIOS" after receiving major awards at the same event. The 12-time Emmy nominated TV series was named "The Most Bingeworthy TV Show," Fashion Times said. Cast member Danielle Brooks, who plays Tasha "Taystee" Jefferson in the web series, received the "Breakthrough Actress" award. "Law & Order" alum Pablo Schreiber took home the "We Love to Hate You" award for his antagonist role as George "Pornstache" Mendez in the series.
