Kansas police are investigating a burglary that occurred at an empty home where a double-murder suicide took place just days before.

Shawnee County Sheriff's police found three dead bodies in the home in on January 27. The victims, Thomas R. Noble, 79, Ruth D. Noble, 76 and Kristin M. Noble, 41 were "immediate family members," according to police. All three were of Berryton, Kansas and each died from gunshot wounds.

The sheriff reported that it appeared that Thomas Noble had died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Just days later on February 1, police received a 911 call about a potential burglary at the same residence. According to the caller, a trailer full of items was seen leaving the abandoned residence. The caller said the driver of the trailer quickly unhooked and left it on a nearby roadway.

Police responded to the call, located the trailer and returned the stolen items to the residence. Inside, they found evidence that the home had been burglarized.

"Most items inside the residence had either been stolen or damaged, along with three missing vehicles," police stated.

Police stated that they were able to recover the three vehicles: One stolen vehicle was found in the 1800 block of SE 72nd Terrace, one was in the 1400 block of NW Logan Street and one was in the 400 block of NE Lake Street.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to please contact the Shawnee County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division (785-251-2200 or DetectiveLeads@snco.us) immediately.
