Just one day after federal prosecutors dismissed his Capitol riot case under a clemency order from former President Donald Trump, a Florida man was rearrested on federal firearm charges while still in custody.
"Daniel BALL was arrested," according to a post from Politico's Kyle Cheney, "for pending federal gun charges — the first public arrest warrant filed in Washington, D.C. during the second Trump term".
Ball, a Florida resident, was taken into custody at the D.C. Jail on Tuesday, facing a federal charge of firearm possession by a convicted felon, according to WUSA9.
A four-page indictment filed in federal court outlines Ball's criminal history, which includes three prior felony convictions: domestic battery by strangulation, battery on a law enforcement officer, and resisting law enforcement with violence.
The firearm case, originally filed in Florida in August, had been delayed due to Ball's detention in D.C. on charges stemming from his involvement in the Capitol riot.
