Michigan police continue to scour a landfill for the body of a missing hair stylist last seen with her boyfriend.

Day three of the search ended with little found, although police were planning to test some items they thought could be related to the case, WXYZ reported.

Ashley Elkins, 30, disappeared Jan. 2. Elkins' ex-boyfriend, Deandre Booker, 32, of Roseville, Michigan, was charged with lying to investigators on Jan. 8, WDIV-4 reported.

Elkins' car was found a few miles from Booker's residence on Jan. 7. It was missing its license plate. The next day Booker was arrested, WDIV-4 reported.

Police are continuing to search Pine Tree landfill, which accepts trash from across southeastern Michigan.

Roseville Police Chief Mitch Berlin told WXYZ that volunteers from about 14 law enforcement agencies are searching a 6.5-acre area. The volunteers are looking for Elkins' body or evidence related to the case.

"Well, we're hoping tomorrow. We were hoping for today, and when we met with Waste Management last night before we left, we knew we had more work ahead of us. We were hoping to achieve that today. I think we're in the right spot. We just got more work ahead of us," Berlin told the station.
