The New Year's Day terrorist, Shamsud-Din Jabbar, researched similar attacks before running people down on Bourbon Street in New Orleans
The FBI said that Jabbar researched the type of car used in a similar attack on a German Christmas market shortly before carrying out his own terrorist attack, the New York Post reported.
Jabbar killed 14 and injured 57 in the attack before he was shot dead in a shoot out with police.
"Just hours before the attack on Bourbon Street, he also searched for information about the car that rammed into innocent victims in a Christmas market in Germany just 10 days before," the FBI said.
The tragedy in Magdeburg, Germany, occurred on December 20 when an anti-Islam activist, identified as Saudi doctor Taleb al-Abdulmohsen, reportedly drove a BMW into a crowded festive market, leaving five people dead and injuring approximately 200 others.
"To date, the FBI has reviewed thousands of videos and photos associated with this case," the feds revealed.
"The FBI, along with our partners, continue to work around the clock to determine what motivated Shamsud-Din Jabbar to drive his truck into a crowd of people on Bourbon Street. Thanks to the overwhelming response from the public, the FBI is closer to getting answers for those families who lost loved ones and the other victims of the New Year's Day attack."
