A Florida deputy resigned after watching porn on the job, causing him to crash into a civilian's car while they had been stopped waiting for a school bus, according to a report.
On Nov. 6, Deputy Tristan Macomber was driving a Lake County Sheriff's Office patrol car when he slammed into the back of another vehicle. Body camera footage obtained by WESH shows the deputy's airbags deploying before he gets out of the vehicle to check on the driver.
"Hello, ma'am. Are you okay?" he can be heard telling the woman. "I'm so sorry. My brakes locked up."
The driver had been stopped waiting for a school bus in the opposite lane as it had its stop lights on, according to an internal investigation report obtained by the Miami Herald.
Macomber initially told officials that he had allegedly been reading text messages from colleagues at the time of the incident, however footage reviewed by officials determined that he was actually looking at images, according to the report.
After confirming that there were no memes or photos that could have been in the texts, the deputy reportedly admitted that he had been "looking at inappropriate photos" or "pornographic material," the report said, according to the Miami Herald.
Macomber went on to admit to "lying by omission" after revealing that although a light had been on in his vehicle, he said it was "more of a deflection than a genuine reason for the vehicle crash," according to the report obtained by WESH.
The deputy was also found to not be wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash. Officials found three violations by the conclusion of the report, but he resigned while facing the possibility of being fired.
The sheriff's office offered to pay for the damage of the other vehicle caused by the crash, the woman told FOX 35.
