A New Jersey man was sentenced to 60 years in prison for murdering two men in 2021.
Tyshaun Drummond, 42, of Toms River, New Jersey shot Sergio Chavez-Perez, 32, and Nicholas Hardy, 36, to death in December 2021. Evidence presented at trial included officers subduing Drummond with a taser following the shootings and Drummond saying "I shot everybody in the face," Yahoo! news reported.
The incident began when Chavez-Perez came home drunk and told his wife that "Tonight, somebody's going to die," app.com reported. Later, one of her daughters told her that Chavez-Perez had a knife when he left the apartment again. The woman then sent a text to Drummond describing the situation. She and Drummond had been having an affair.
In court, the woman testified there was a knock at the door the following morning; she answered the door, and a short time later, Drummond ran out of Hardy's downstairs apartment, up the stairs, and past her into the apartment, app.com reported.
In the bedroom, Drummond shot Chavez-Perez, despite the woman standing between the two men, app.com reported. She attempted to resuscitate him and called police.
Hardy was later found shot to death downstairs by police.
Responding police officers found Drummond outside the apartment complex. They ordered him to lay on the ground, and when he refused, was hit with the taser, police said.
