A Kansas man who shot his wife to death only to later ask her mother for his Playstation back was sentenced to 61 months for the crime.

Michael Edington, 26, pled guilty to voluntary manslaughter in the July 2023 shooting death of his wife, 25-year-old Sydney Lea Ann Palmer, the Sumner News Cow reported. The shooting happened during a domestic dispute in which Palmer threw a 4.04-ounce concrete figurine at Edington and he responded with gunfire.

While the case was pending, Edington was out on bail. Palmer's mother noted that he got remarried in the very house where he had killed her daughter.

"This is the place where you killed your ex-wife and my daughter and you have a wedding there as if she hadn't existed," Emma Cooley said in addressing the courtroom, according to the Sumner News Cow.

"The first thing you asked me is for the Playstation. Well, here's your PlayStation," the newspaper reported that Cooley then placed the Playstation on a bench behind Edington.

Court records state that Edington told police Palmer was in the middle of a manic episode and became combative, according to KSNW-3. The station reported that Edington told officers she started to break things and then threw the figurine, which hit him in the head.
