A man in St. Louis experienced a turn of events when a stranger who helped free his car from the snow later robbed him at gunpoint, demanding his car keys in a parking garage.
On Sunday, during heavy snow in St. Louis' Central West End, a 32-year-old man got his SUV stuck at the entrance of the Parc Frontenac apartment garage, according to KSDK.
A seemingly kind stranger in an SUV offered assistance, claiming to have already helped others in similar situations. The man gratefully accepted the help and successfully parked his car after being freed.
"He comes up to us like, 'Hey I got this. I've already helped four other people. This is going to be really, really easy,'" the victim said. "It did not cross my mind at all that he was about to pull out a gun."
Moments after the man parked his car, the same individual who had offered assistance approached him in the garage. Pulling out a handgun, the stranger demanded the man's car keys.
The victim complied and immediately left the area to contact the police. When officers arrived, they found the vehicle still parked in the garage and untouched.
The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department has launched an investigation into the incident.
As of now, no arrests have been made, and authorities are working to identify the suspect based on available descriptions and evidence.
