The mother of a young woman killed in the New Year's Day terror attack in New Orleans asked people to not set up a GoFundMe for her daughter.

"I ask please DO NOT do a GoFundMe my daughter was insured through me and her job," Melissa Dedeaux wrote on Facebook, adding that the family has received an outpouring of support already.

Dedeaux daughter, Nikyra Cheyenne Dedeaux, 18, was killed in the attack perpetrated by 42-year-old Shamsud-Din Jabbar of Houston, Texas. Jabbar drove down Bourbon Street, running down pedestrians, and then exited the vehicle firing a rifle before dying in a shootout with police, the FBI said. There were 15 people killed in the attack and more than 30 injured.

"This was an act of terrorism, and now my baby is gone, y'all.. my baby is gone. She is no longer with us...I lost my baby just pray for me and my family pleaseeeeee!!! God I need you now!!" Melissa Dedeaux wrote in a Facebook post.

Nikyra Cheyenne Dedeaux was out with her friend, 18-year-old Zion Parsons when the attack happened, according to nola.com. Parsons said they were leaving Voodoo Chicken & Daquiris when the truck sped past him and struck Dedeaux.

"I just saw my friend die. She's dead. And if I was a little bit quicker, I could've stopped it," Parsons said in video viewed by nola.com. "I haven't had the time to cry. It's just so crazy."
