EPA tweets unbecoming message about Kim Kardashian video game

By

According to a Bustle report, the Office of Water of the Environmental Protection Agency on Monday posted an unusual tweet for a federal government agency. The tweet, which was later deleted presumably due to violations of communication protocols, had paid homage to Kim Kardashian's latest foray into the mobile game industry.

The tweet read, "I'm now a C-List celebrity in Kim Kardashian: Hollywood. Come join me and become famous too by playing on iPhone!"

The EPA's social media post came after gaming app "Kim Kardashian: Hollywood" had crashed last Friday. On Saturday, the most famous Kardashian sibling was forced to issue an apology via a tweet. She Wrote, "Due to the incredible amount of player activity and downloads the #KimKardashianGame was unavailable last night :-( I am soooo sorry!!!"

The personnel who have been handling the EPA's official Twitter account might have been avid fans of the photo that an official snafu has committed. On the other hand, some of the critics were offended and had called out of the idea that the agency's personnel is playing the somewhat addictive mobile game instead of working on government stuff.

The EPA's Office of Water has since apologized for the tweet. The federal agency had also thanked Kardashian as well, no doubt because of the additional publicity it received online.

"Whoops...our bad. Sorry about tweet. Upside - more attention for the Office of Water (https://water.epa.gov ), thanks @KimKardashian," EPA Water wrote.

In an email to USA Today, EPA spokeswoman Liz Purchia said about the error, "An EPA fellow inadvertently triggered an auto-generated tweet. She regrets the error and has been advised on the sensitivities of using social media."

On the other hand, the author of the Clean Water Act, Representative John Dingell of Michigan, could not help reply to EPA Water's tweet. Being the sly Twitter user that he is, he made light of the office faux paus and first wrote, "I'm the last original author of the Clean Water Act, but I have no idea who/what a Kardashian is and I rarely play games. You OK, @EPAwater?"

He later tweet this very humorous take about the Kardashians. It read, "Staff has now informed me of what a Kardashian is. I'm only left with more questions."
