Bryan Kohberger, the man suspected of stabbing to death four University of Idaho students in 2022, was a person of interest in another home invasion in nearby Pullman, Washington.

Kohberger, who has been charged in the deaths of Madison Mogen, 21, Kaylee Goncalves, 21, Xana Kernodle, 20, and Ethan Chapin, 20, was considered a person of interest in a 2021 home invasion in Pullman, ABC News reported.

Police have since cleared Kohberger in that case. In a statement from the Pullman Police Department, police said, "We have no reason to believe he was involved in this burglary at this time..."

ABC News reported that in the Pullman attack, a masked man entered a residence around 3:30 a.m., entered a woman's bedroom armed with a knife, and then fled when the woman woke up, screamed, and kicked the masked intruder.

The University of Idaho attacks occurred on in November 2022 in nearby Moscow, Idaho. The attacks occurred between 4 a.m. and 4:24 a.m. A witness described the attacker as wearing a mask and being dressed in all black, PEOPLE reported.

However, in the Pullman, Washington case, the perpetrator was described as being between 5'3 and 5'5, whereas Kohberger is over six feet tall. Also, Kohberger was not yet enrolled at Washington State University and was not on campus at the time, ABC News reported.
