A Texas woman was arrested after allegedly attempting to flush her newborn baby down a toilet at a local Whataburger, leading to the child's death.

On December 19, 2024, 33-year-old Mallori Patrice Strait entered the Converse, Texas, Whataburger restaurant, where she stayed for hours before retreating to the bathroom around 2 a.m, KTSA reported.

The restaurant manager became concerned after hearing noises and eventually called 911. Deputies discovered Strait inside a locked stall with what was later identified as a newborn girl trapped in the toilet's drain.

Strait was arrested on charges of abuse of a corpse after the infant, who was estimated to be 28 to 30 weeks gestation, was found with injuries consistent with having been forced into the toilet.

Despite efforts from first responders to save the child, the baby was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Strait faces charges of abuse of a corpse and remains in custody with a $100,000 bond.
