A Missouri facing first-degree murder charges after allegedly stabbing his father 50 times told authorities it was an accident, according to a criminal complaint.

Jeffrey M. Goedde, 41, turned himself in to police stating that he had committed a crime. "Goedde reported that his father was unconscious in the kitchen and that he was bleeding from his face and back and that he used weapons and hands to strike his father," the complaint states.

Police went to the home to search for his father. Upon entering the home, they smelled a strong odor of bleach.

After some searching, they found his father, Edward Goedde, 75, lying face down and dead. In an interview with police, Jeffrey Goedde stated that "knows he was not free to leave because he accidentally killed someone. However, [he] would not make any further statements on how he killed the victim and requested an attorney," the criminal complaint states.

Police executed a search warrant and believed that the murder weapon was a kitchen knife. It was found in the kitchen trash about five feet from the body, the complaint states.

An autopsy found numerous injuries, including about 50 stab wounds, broken bones, signs of strangulation, and blunt force trauma to the head, face, and back, according to the complaint.

Jeffrey Goedde was charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action.
