Fans of Luigi Mangione, the suspected killer of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, are mocking law enforcement for photos released of Mangione after he was extradited from Pennsylvania and sent back to New York to face charges.
On Thursday, the New York Police Department posted photos of Mangione being escorted onto a plane out of Pennsylvania in an orange jumpsuit with his hands cuffed to X. They then posted additional photos of the 26-year-old being escorted out of the plane in New York, accompanied by New York City Mayor Eric Adams.
Fans took to the replies of the post in order to express how cool the photos of Mangione were, with several making edits to make the photos look like an album cover.
"Goes 𝙃𝘼𝙍𝘿," wrote one user who tweeted an edited version of the photo.
"Coolest dude ever," concurred another.
"This whole thing just gets more iconic! If it was fame that Luigi wanted, he got it," wrote a third.
In other images of him posted by NYPD, fans commented on Mangione's physical appearance, saying that NYPD themselves made him look even cooler than before by setting up, taking and posting the shots that they did.
"If you're trying to make him the coolest guy alive you're doing a good job. If you are trying to point out how much money of ours you waste....you're also doing a good job," wrote one user.
"What's even the point of sharing these pictures? You making him look cooler," wrote another, posting side-by-side photos of Mangione and Henry Cavill as Superman.
"Did you get his autograph? Did y'all take turns posing with him?" wrote another user.
Mangione arrived in Manhattan Thursday afternoon where he will face trial for the charges levied against him, one of which carries a maximum sentence of the death penalty.
Mangione will remain in custody behind bars as his attorneys are yet to fill out a bail application on his behalf, as reported by the BBC.
Since Mangione was arrested and his identity was revealed to the public, he has developed somewhat of a fanbase of people who support him in the crimes he allegedly committed due to shared frustrations towards the American healthcare industry. Others have also found themselves fans because they find him attractive, a common sentiment on social media.
