A federal complaint revealed more details about a notebook Luigi Mangione, 26, had with him when was arrested for allegedly shooting UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson on Dec. 4 in Manhattan.

The complaint states that Mangione expressed hostility toward the health insurance industry and the wealthy more generally, CNN reported.

In his alleged writing, Mangione apparently wrote that "the target is insurance," noting that it "checks every box," the news network reported.

Mangione faces numerous charges, including murder as an act of terrorism, related to the shooting of Thompson, who was gunned down while walking to an investor's conference.

The killing has prompted an outpouring of anger at the health insurance industry. Some have even attempted to raise money for Mangione's defense.

The federal filing states that the notebook references the investor meeting Thompson was headed to: "This investor conference is a true windfall ... and—most importantly—the message becomes self-evident," CNN reported. The notebook also states that Magione was glad he had "procrastinated" because it had given him more time for research.

Aside from the notebook, Mangione had a letter that was addressed "To the Feds" when he was arrested at a McDonald's in Altoona, Pennsylvania. In that letter Mangione states that he "wasn't working with anyone."

Earlier Thursday, Mangione waived extradition to New York. His decision paved the way for him to immediately be taken to New York to face charges related to Thompson's murder.

Following the morning hearing, NYPD officers took Mangione to a waiting airplane and flew him to Long Island. He then took a helicopter before being transferred to an SUV that took him to a federal court hearing in Manhattan, USA TODAY reported.

Among those escorting Mangione after the helicopter landed was New York Mayor Eric Adams, CNN reported.
