A Minnesota man has been charged after he allegedly grabbed a Taser an officer was using on him and returned the favor, officials say.

28-year-old Cole Edward Franzen, a Pelican Rapids resident, was being arrested for alleged domestic assault after a police officer and an Otter Tail County deputy responded to reports of a disturbance at a residence on Dec. 14, reported Fergus Now.

Franzen began to run away from officers towards the home, upon which the deputy began chasing him. A struggle ensued as both men fought each other on the ground, with Franzen ultimately getting on top of the deputy.

The police officer attempted to help the deputy by using his taser on Franzen, but it was not enough to subdue him. As the scuffle continued, Franzen found himself on his stomach at one point, during which the police officer placed his taser on the ground and attempted to help the deputy subdue Franzen.

Franzen then grabbed the taser and used it against the deputy.

Both officials deployed their tasers repeatedly and enlisted the use of combative maneuvers in order to subdue Franzen and put him in handcuffs. Even when cuffed, Franzen continued to resist arrest by falling to the ground as officers tried to escort him to their official vehicle, or refusing to enter the vehicle.

He has been charged with two felony counts of Domestic Assault, one felony count of 4th Degree Assault Towards a Peace Officer, one felony count of Disarming a Peace Officer, and one misdemeanor count of Fleeing a Peace Officer By a Means Other Than a Motor Vehicle.

His first court appearance was on Tuesday.
