A 46-year-old father of three from Texas faces attempted murder charges for allegedly setting his house on fire with his children still inside.
Pedro Luis Parra Pulgar allegedly committed arson with his three children inside on Nov. 6, WIS-10 reported. Police have charged him with three counts of attempted murder.
When the fire started, two teenage children were able to flee the home, the TV station reported, but the third was trapped inside.
Fulshear Police Sergeant Brandon Moseley heard a faint whimper from a window, leading him to enter the home even as it was engulfed in flames, Fox News 26 reported. Moseley was able to locate a 3-year-old child and get him to safety. The child was airlifted to a hospital for severe smoke inhalation but was able to recover, the TV station reported.
"I could relate to the situation with my own kids," Moseley told Fox. "But when you're in police mode, it's about doing the job."
Pulgar also was injured in the fire and was in the hospital until Dec. 12. He is now being held in Fort Bend County Jail on a $2.25 million bond. Fox reported that there is a federal hold for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on Pulgar.
