A 29-year-old man has been charged with deliberate homicide after he told authorities that he strangled a woman, stuffed her in a suitcase, and threw her in a trash dumpster.
William Glenn Olson also faces tampering with evidence charges related to the November disappearance of 46-year-old Alice Wood of Conrad, Montana, according to 3-KRTV News in Great Falls.
Wood was reported missing on Nov. 30 but was last seen on Nov. 22. Police first questioned Olson on Dec. 2, and he told them he had not seen her since Nov. 10. Later, police learned that he had outstanding warrants for violations of a conditional release related to an assault, the TV station reported.
Some of Wood's family members reported to police that someone had crashed her car and abandoned it just outside of Conrad. This was reported to police Dec. 1, according to Fox Montana Right Now.
Olson eventually admitted having an argument with Wood, strangling her and stuffing her in a suitcase days before he took her car. Olson told authorities he put the suitcase in a dumpster near an elementary school. After it was determined the suitcase had been picked up by sanitation, a massive search of a garbage dump was launched to no avail. Wood's body still has not been located, 3-KRTV reported.
Conrad Police Chief Cory Smith noted, "An incident of this magnitude, especially in Conrad, small town, there's a lot of people that have been impacted by that," according to 3-KRTV.
Olson is being held on a $1-million dollar bond.
