Luigi Mangione, the suspected UnitedHealthcare CEO shooter, was caught on camera munching on a McDonald's breakfast moments before his arrest.
Pennsylvania State Police released the photos Tuesday in a post asking the public for any knowledge about Mangione's prior travel.
Two of the photos show Mangione munching on what appeared to be hashbrowns at a table at the Altoona McDonald's he was arrested at on Monday. Mangione's face mask is pulled down and hanging off one ear in one of the photos, capturing a somber expression as he holds the hashbrown.
Police also included a photo of Mangione at the restaurant with his mask up. The suspect was also wearing a yellow beanie and black coat, leading several people to comment that they would not have recognized it was him.
As police were also asking for help learning about his previous whereabouts, dozens of users began joking that Mangione actually had an alibi the whole time.
"That's my boyfriend we were in bed all day," one user commented. "He was with me all week. Couldn't have been him," another wrote.
"He was in my bedchamber all last week so there's no way he iced that murderer guy," another commented.
Mangione was charged with murder in connection to the shooting death of CEO Brian Thompson that occurred in Manhattan last week. However, after dozens of social media users began noting the health debt crisis that many Americans are facing, Mangione has garnered somewhat of a fanbase.
Tweets and posts including the phrase "free him" became the top trending topic on X Monday, the day Mangione was arrested. Several people have also created GoFundMes to help pay for the suspect's legal defense fund.
