A Louisiana mother is facing multiple felony charges after allegedly accidentally shooting her daughter in the leg while aiming at the child's father during an argument, according to a report.

The incident took place Dec. 2 during an argument between 29-year-old Raven Mott and her child's father at a Baton Rouge residence, WAFB reported.

During the confrontation, Mott allegedly fired two shots at the father, who fled the scene. A third shot reportedly unintentionally struck her daughter in the leg.

Fearing legal repercussions, Mott reportedly delayed taking her daughter to the hospital, keeping her home overnight. The next day, the daughter was taken to the hospital, leading to an investigation by Baton Rouge police.

Mott allegedly admitted to accidentally shooting her daughter. Later, a neighbor, who allegedly noticed the child's injury and urged Mott to seek medical attention, reportedly confirmed the mother's story to authorities.

Mott was arrested and is facing multiple felony charges, including attempted second-degree murder, second-degree cruelty to juveniles and illegal use of a weapon.

The child is receiving medical care. Her condition has not yet been disclosed to the public.
