An Ohio grandmother who intentionally shot her infant granddaughter in the head after attempting to fire on other family members first will spend up to 12 years in prison.

As part of a plea agreement, Mia Desiree Harris, 43, pleaded guilty to one count of felonious assault in connection with the shooting of her then-6-month-old grandchild, Myra, at a Liberty Township, Ohio home, according to the Journal-News.

Harris was originally facing three counts of felonious assault for the December 2023 incident, said police.

Body camera footage obtained by Law&Crime Monday captured the harrowing moments first responders rushed to the scene as a witness immediately implicated the grandmother in the shooting.

"Mia Harris. Mia Harris," a woman told police who was responsible for the shooting in the clip from Dec. 9, 2023, according to the outlet. "Get her right now."

During Harris' sentencing hearing in October, her defense attorney, David Albrecht, said the mother of four "just snapped," blaming her actions on substance abuse.

"Everyone has their ups and downs. She snapped. Call it a breakdown, call it a mental breakdown — she just snapped," he said, according to the Journal-News.

The victim's mother, Destiny Bluffington, was first targeted, before Harris turned the gun on her granddaughter.

"I had to plead for my life and you shot my daughter in front of me," Bluffington said while delivering her victim impact statement, the paper reported.

Baby Myra spent 65 days hospitalized and underwent three surgeries.

"God gave me a blessing. I had to watch my daughter fight for her life," Bluffington recalled, according to WLWT-TV. "You know, they [doctors] gave Myra three days to live – three days – and then on the third, they gave her five. They don't even know how she's alive."

Harris will be eligible for parole in 2032.
