A Virginia woman accused of murder allegedly doused her victim with gasoline before setting her on fire as she sat on a couch, according to authorities.

Savannah Renee Adams, 28, has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of Tiffany Nichole Dunford outside a Wythe County, Virginia home over the weekend, according to the sheriff's office.

Dunford was sitting on an outdoor couch when Adams allegedly drove up to her, drenched her with gasoline, and set her ablaze, authorities said, WDBJ-TV reported.

Dunford suffered burns to most of her body and succumbed to her injuries at the hospital Monday, a day after the incident. Adams allegedly immediately fled the scene but was apprehended the day Dunford died.

"Anybody that knew Tiffany, knew she could light up a room, and whether she was in the right or wrong, I don't care, I still loved her, but she didn't deserve to be burned," Dunford's cousin Nancy Reyna said, according to WFXR-TV. "Tiffany is too nice of a person, and this is devastating to me and my family."

Family members said the victim and suspect knew each other, however authorities have not elaborated on a possible motive.
