A naked Florida man wandering around a neighborhood with a t-shirt over his head sent the community into a freak out, sending police officers, K9 units and drones on the hunt for him.
Deputies received the call about the man just before 10 p.m. Thursday. The report of a "suspicious nude male" matched the description from a call the day prior after a homeowner called police after "seeing a naked male, with a white shirt covering his face, enter his lanai and approach his sliding glass door," according to the Lee County Sheriff's Office.
The suspect reportedly ran away in that instance after the homeowner activated their alarm.
Detectives, K9 units and drones swarmed the community in Iona, Florida, searching for the man. About 45 minutes later, another call came in matching the suspect's description.
Officers continued to gather evidence and interview witnesses while the search continued.
The man later reportedly ran into the tree line near a pond, leading detectives to establish a perimeter. They later came across the man, later identified as 30-year-old Genero Anthony Rosciti, while he was reportedly attempting to evade detectives, and arrested him, according to the sheriff's office.
"We just don't know what he's going to do next. I mean, the idea that you're trying to go to sleep and someone's creeping around your backyard is very unsettling. With the holidays and the hurricanes and everything else that everyone's been through around here, do we really need this guy?" Keri Hendry, who lives in the area, told NBC2.
Rosciti was charged with loitering and prowling, while detectives said further charges could be added once evidence is reviewed. The sheriff's office said Rosciti has previously been convicted for indecent exposure.
