A DoorDash driver delivering food at a Miami skyrise apartment allegedly witnessed the shooting of a woman caught in a tumultuous love triangle with her boyfriend and another female.
Lareine Barbie Cruz, 22, was arrested over the weekend on charges of second-degree attempted murder and use of a firearm while committing a felony, according to jail records. It's unclear if she has entered a plea.
Police began investigating the report of a shooting Saturday and found the victim outside the apartment building suffering from a gunshot wound to the neck, according to the arrest report, WPLG-TV reported.
Officers followed a trail of blood leading to the 31st floor and arrested Cruz without incident.
A DoorDash delivery driver offered his account of the events he allegedly witnessed while dropping off a food order on the same floor of the purported shooting.
The man alleged he rode the elevator with the victim, whom he said he saw angrily banging and kicking the door of one of the apartment units, according to the arrest report.
With the door still shut, the sound of a gunshot followed and he alleged he witnessed the victim grasping at her bloodied neck.
Another man arrived on the scene and explained to police he was in a polyamorous relationship with Cruz and the victim, but recent discord in their ternary romance prompted him to end things with the victim, which in turn, made her "jealous," the report read, according to the outlet.
The morning of the alleged shooting, the man went out on Cruz's balcony to smoke, and the victim spotted him from her apartment directly across the way.
"That's what you want to do?" she allegedly screamed at him, said police.
The man alleged he went inside the apartment at that moment, and later received a phone call from Cruz, who told him the victim was trying to bust through her unit.
"Come get your girl. She is outside banging on my door," Cruz purportedly told him, according to the report.
Soon after, Cruz called the man and allegedly confessed to shooting the victim. The victim's condition remains unclear.
