A Chicago-area Democrat is facing charges after allegedly crashing her car while under the influence and making crude comments to police about his "small penis."
Chicago police arrested Cook County Board of Review Commissioner Samantha Steele on Sunday, November 5 after she reportedly crashed into another vehicle on the North Side and refused sobriety tests, Chicago Sun-Times reported.
"I observed her eyes were bloodshot and glassy," an officer said in a police report. "I also detected a strong odor of alcoholic beverage coming from her breath as she spoke."
During the arrest Steele reportedly made vulgar comments to one of the officers, asking "repeatedly said, 'Is your penis that small?'"
Steele was treated for head injuries and is due to appear in court on December 27 to face a misdemeanor DUI charge.
If convicted, Steele could face fines up to $2,500 and potentially lose her driving privileges for up to one year, further adding strain to her political career.
Steele, a first-term Democrat, has faced multiple controversies during her short tenure.
Recently, a lawsuit was filed against her by a former aide and an investigation was launched for leaking confidential information about a high-profile property tax appeal.
