Although the body of a Texas mom who vanished from a party in October has yet to be found, authorities are acting on the presumption she is dead and have charged her husband with her murder.
Brad Simpson, 53, is accused of killing wife and mother of four Suzanne Simpson, 51, who was last seen alive arguing with her husband in their San Antonio neighborhood after attending a party at a private dinner club Oct. 6, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety, CBS News reported.
Her husband reported her missing the next day.
Simpson was charged with murder Thursday and a judge set his bond at $2 million, bringing his total bond to $5 million, according to KENS-TV.
He was initially held on $3 million bond for his arrest Oct. 9 on charges of causing bodily injury to a family member and unlawful restraint, tampering/fabricating physical evidence with intent to impair, and a weapons-related charge, the outlet reported.
Simpson has not been cooperative with investigators, police alleged, according to KSAT-TV.
His brother also accused him of an unwillingness to work with detectives.
"Until Brad chooses to cooperate, we will continue to cooperate for him, as we have from the very beginning of this heartbreaking ordeal," Simpson's brother, Barton Simpson, wrote on Facebook, last month. "This is not how he was raised, and this is not who we are. Our parents instilled in us the values of honoring and protecting others, and they are truly remarkable people."
"The devastation this has caused to our family is overwhelming. Brad's refusal to cooperate is unacceptable. My sister and brother-in-law have stepped up to take care of the children, but the impact on our parents has been shattering. Our lives have been irreparably changed."
"We will not rest until we find Suzanne," he wrote.
Detectives recently combed a Bexar County landfill, but her body remains missing.
