Someone Donated a Live Pipe Bomb to a Thrift Store in Michigan

Authorities are investigating after multiple pipe bombs were found in a thrift store donation box in Michigan on Wednesday.

Michigan State Police said in a press release Thursday that troopers responded to a call from New Beginnings Thrift Shop in Harbor Springs at around 2:15 p.m. on Wednesday after a worker found what appeared to be pipe bombs.

The worker had been looking through a donation box that contained tools and what the worker believed could be pipe bombs.

The Michigan State Police Bomb Squad and Canine Team were called the scene. An X-ray of one of the suspected pipe bombs revealed a fuse and powder, police said. The bomb squad rendered it safe to defuse the bomb.

The canine team swept the business and surrounding area for explosives, and no other explosives were found.

The case remains under investigation.
