Just ahead of election day, a Democratic Committee office in one Georgia county was sent a profane, hate-filled message using a slur.
The Cobb County Democratic Committee received a voicemail the weekend before the election in which hateful profanities are directed at the Cobb Democrats, Vice President Kamala Harris, and Black residents of Georgia, according to 11Alive.
"We're gonna to vote for Trump. Trump's gonna win, g******it, that n***** ain't gonna win," said the voicemail.
"We've probably gotten 30 to 40 calls using profanity, but nothing along the line of 'go kill yourself, using the N-word,'" said the chair of the Cobb County Democratic Committee, Essence Johnson.
The number used to leave the voicemail picked up when called back, 11Alive reported. However, the person on the other end denied leaving any messages at the office.
Nevertheless, the incident has caused officials in Cobb County to install additional security measures as the nation's political climate tenses.
"We've taken steps of having more security and hiring officers to be around," said Johnson.
Georgia GOP Chair Josh McKoon reported that he had also received threatening messages ahead of the election, sharing an image of a note he received in August.
"As Chairman of the Georgia Republican Party I have received numerous threats as well as our staff. Threats of violence have no place in our politics. That is why we need to elect the candidate of peace, President Donald J. Trump," he said in a statement.
